The Dakota - 1 West 72nd Street

Manhattan > Upper West Side > The Dakota - 1 West 72nd Street

By Daniel Baum on January 20, 2009

It’s impossible to tell what makes The Dakota more notorious, the death of Beatle John Lennon or, more recently, the recent moves by the co-op board away from the traditional residents (creative or artistic celebrities) to more of the quiet money set.

Either way, the building is still as relevant a New York landmark today as it was when it was build over 100 years ago. And it seems that the mystique of the building, its architecture, and residents could easily keep The Dakota on the radar for 100 more.
