I love sushi- but what I don’t love is spending tons of money on it. I’ve tried to get around it – buying from the grocery store and even gambling my gastrointestinal health at stands and convenience stores where things look just a bit off – neither of which have been good options. So, what do I do when I am craving sushi, but running low on funds? I head over to Nori.
Nori is located at 129 Second Avenue between St. Marks Place and 7th Street – and if you’re not careful, you’ll miss this little hole in the wall. But once you get inside, you’ll be greeted by a friendly staff and immediately seated in their cozy dining room.
What the restaurant lacks in ambiance, however, it makes up for in value. The fish is always super high-quality and the rolls are expertly prepared. Even the salad, which at most sushi bars is nothing more than a pile of iceberg lettuce, is well-presented and a mix of colorful veggies.
The sushi is well-priced even at dinner, but if you head over there for lunch, you’ll get a complete meal for under $10 – which, if you are a sushi lover in Manhattan, you know is hard to beat.
**NOTE: For those that live in the area, Nori offers free delivery.
